THE STANDARD

GENERAL APPEARANCE: Smooth coated, well balanced, of great strength for thier size, muscular,active and agile.

HEAD: Short, deep through with a broad skull. Very pronounced cheek muscles, distinct stop, short foreface and a black nose.

EYES: Dark eyes are preferred but may bear some relation to coat colour. Round of medium size and set to look straight a head. Eye rims are dark.

MOUTH: Lips are tight and clean. Jaws are strong with large teeth, with a perfect regular and complete scissor bite.-this is where the upper teeth are closely overlapping the bottom ones, so that nothing could fit betwwen them.

NECK: The staffords neck is Muscular, rather short, with a clean outline and gradually widens as you move from the head to shoulders.

FOREQUARTERS: Legs are to be straight and well boned. Set rather far apart, showing no weakness at the pasterns, from which the feet turn out slightly.
Shoulders are well laid back with no looseness at the elbows.

BODY: Closely coupled with level topline, wide front and with a deep brisket. Ribs are well sprung muscular and well defined. It should be easy to see where the ribs end and loin beggins.

HINDQUARTERS: Are well muscled, hocks well let down with the stifles well bent. The legs are parallel when viewed from behind.

FEET: Well padded, strong and of medium size. Tight and well held together. The nails are balck in solid coloured dogs.

TAIL: Medium length, low set, tappering to a point and carried rather low. Not rising above the back.
It should not curl much and may be likened to a old fashioned pump handle.

GAITMOVEMENT: Free, powerful and agile, should not move clumsly and with an economy of effort. Legs moving parallel when viewed from front to rear.
There should also be discernible drive from the the Hindquarters.

COAT: Smooth, short and close.

COLOUR: Red,fawn,white,black or blue or any of these colours with white. Any shade of brindale or any shade of brindale with white.

BLACK and TAN (like those on a doberman) or LIVER (Brown dogs with no black hairs in it) are highly undersirable as these colours are extremely dominant and if mated to another colour will only result in that colour.

SIZE: Weight: Dogs should wiegh between 12.7-17 kgs and bitches should be between 11 and 15.4 kilos.
And should be between 14 and 16 inches at the withers.
Hieghts being related to wieghts.

TEMPREAMENT: Bold,fearless and totally reliable.
